Samy Thiébault (saxophone ténor, flute, compositions)
Julien Alour (trompette & bugle )
Lionel Belmondo (saxophones, flutes alto et ethniques sur “Eveils”)
Adrien Chicot (piano)
Fabien Marcoz (contrebasse)
Stéphane Belmondo (batterie, percussions, coquillages)
The Belmondo brothers made no mistake: Lionel, the saxophonist and Stéphane, the trumpeter, who welcome on their label this second quintet opus of their protégé the young tenor Samy Thiébault, are also involved in the game. The first as a guest, the second. with chopsticks! Lyricism, poetry and swing, Gaya Scienza (Nietzsche's Gay Knowledge) has something to appeal to bop lovers, thanks to the writing and arrangement qualities of the saxophonist from the Paris Conservatory. Inspired like his two elders by French music from the beginning of the 20th century (Gabriel Fauré, Lili Boulanger), Thiébault draws from it the quintessence of his suite in four movements entitled Eveils. Rich in tradition, but will-o'-the-wisp in energy, the proof by six will be administered as a bonus on stage (1) tomorrow and Saturday at Sunside.
