Turquoise - The Return of Captain Speed (2024)

Turquoise was a psychedelic rock band from Southern California, previously known as Captain Speed, managed by Jim Salzer, a concert promoter and owner of the legendary Arcade Record Shop. Their music was characterized by rich psychedelic sound: baroque organ melodies, mesmerizing guitar parts, and driving percussion, combined with the lyrics of frontman Tim Pearson, who resembled Jim Morrison.

The band shared the stage with legends like Grateful Dead, The Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, and many others. In 1967–68, they recorded two singles on the Arcade label, as well as material for an album that was never released—until now.
