Lawne - Live at Audio Gold (2025)

Formed in 2019, Lawne (AKA Joe Nicklin and Joe Martin) describe their music as "dance music with live instrumentation" and say they're influenced by a shared love of psychedelia, hip-hop and jazz-funk. You get the idea: laidback, meandering instrumental grooves heavily inspired by jazz are the order of the day here generally, with the tempo seldom rising above walking pace, and with the occasional electric guitar squall thrown in to keep things interesting. Most of these tracks also featured on last year's debut album 'Attic' but this live recording allows for some interesting moments of improvisation - notably when 'Pool' threatens to drift into 'Last Christmas'!
