Mattheis - Waiting for the Silhouette (2025)

Mattheis is one of Nous'klaer Audio's key artists, and Silhouette is his sixth album for the label. With a focus on downtempo music throughout, it showcases his ability to make lush, cinematic sound scapes. This is most evident on the orchestral strings and birdsong samples of "Pale Lake", and "All Meanders", a gently droning piece that sounds like the lost link between Wolfgang Voigt and Alessandro Cortini. In other instances, Mattheis deploys rumbling beats as the backdrop for his sound design, most notably on the jittery title track or the dense, throbbing "Windthrow". In the main however, the album focuses on intricate, complex textures as "Meadows" so effortlessly demonstrates.
