New York-based electro-acoustic duo NTHNL and Sphente release their debut album "Awareness of the Wind Within," a profound document of their years-long collaboration.

Specializing in consciousness-expanding vibrational exploration, Sphente and NTHNL combine gongs and winds in immersive long-form improvisations that blur the boundaries between ambient soundscapes, ritual performance, and experimental acoustics. The gong, manipulated with Sphente’s innovative microphone techniques, forms a shifting, elemental ground—an earth-like terrain populated by NTHNL’s winds, delicate air beings navigating a world of metal and vibration.

Over the past three years, the duo has become a fixture in New York City's experimental and rave-adjacent scenes. Awareness of the Wind Within was conceived as a way to capture the essence of their live performances—raw, unprocessed, and deeply intentional. Recorded over four days at NTHNL’s Bushwick studio and produced by Joan Arnau Pàmies, more than four hours of material were distilled into a focused 45-minute album of pure, unedited improvisation.

The result is a stark and meditative sonic landscape, a journey through primordial terrains shaped by elemental forces—oceans boiling, mountains forming—evoking life before life, and the persistence of inner breath in an empty world. The album traverses darkness and light, stillness and intensity, but always returns to the quiet, resilient presence of the wind within.
