Takeshi Terauchi & Blue Jeans - Let's Go Blue Jeans (2010)

With Let’s Go Blue Jeans in 1969, their first recording after a three years hiatus, Takeshi Terauchi & Blue Jeans tried once again to include a singer. This time, it was Rui Takahashi, with whom Terauchi continued to work on two EPs and two further LPs. Takahashi was probably the closest to an authentic soul singer that Japan had at the time. He wore curly hair, like the Afro-Americans artists he was trying to emulate, and dark shades like Stevie Wonder. Throughout his career, Terauchi has always shown a keen eyes (and ears) regarding his collaboration with other artists. Takahashi and Terauchi’s work together is particularly remarkable as the singer never worked with anyone else beside the guitar hero. The “Taiyou Ni Sakebou” track in this album gives a perfect idea of how exhilarating that association was.
