"Aloud" is a collaborative album by Jamaican-British poet Raymond Antrobus and world-renowned percussionist Evelyn Glennie. The project is unique as both artists are deaf and are continuing their creative exploration of sound and communication. The album is a spoken word recording of Antrobus's poetry accompanied by soundscapes created by Glennie. All material was recorded live in a single afternoon in the U.K., without any rehearsal, and with most tracks being first takes. Evelyn Glennie improvised her parts in real-time, without prior knowledge of the poems Antrobus would perform. In his work, the poet often addresses his deaf experience and the racism he has faced.
