We come from a time when the benchmark for young musicians was to master jazz standards, in other words, to be able to improvise on a musical form and sometimes complex chords, and then, building on that, to develop their own style. Glen Fisher and Paul Urbanek immersed themselves in this subject almost 30 years ago and played music together almost every day, regardless of whether they had a concert coming up or not. When the musicians met again for this album after three decades, their long-standing connection was immediately back, as if they had only been away on a short vacation.
