Manteca - Oye-Barrio Sound (2023) [Hi-Res]

The London-based collective Manteca, which performs Latin jazz, salsa, and funk, is releasing its 2014 digital album "Oye" on vinyl for the first time. The album features powerful Latin music that transcends standard genres, appealing to a wide audience. The group, led by Martha Acosta and Javier Fioramonti, comprises leading musicians from the London Latin scene. "Oye" includes original compositions combining Latin funk ("Que Pasa"), Afrobeat, Puerto Rican bomba, Colombian cumbia, and Afro-Cuban rhythms ("Descarga China"). The album also features three cover versions: the soul jazz classic "The Jody Grind" by Horace Silver, "Groovy Samba" by Sergio Mendes, and the bolero standard "Como Fue".
