Devin Daniels - Grandiose (2025) [Hi-Res]

The album Grandiose is Devin Daniels' second release with his group, The Village. Composed entirely of original tunes, this work features the quartet of Devin Daniels, bassist Logan Kane, drummer Myles Martin, and keyboardist Javier Santiago. Kane previously collaborated with Daniels on Trio Expeditions. Martin is a frequent collaborator and a prominent figure in LA rhythm sections, while Daniels and Santiago met while attending the Herbie Hancock Institute. Daniels, who toured with Herbie Hancock himself immediately after graduating, performing as the youngest player at prestigious venues like the Hollywood Bowl, brought this ensemble together to explore diverse musical territories. The quartet's compositions blend elements such as grooves, odd-time signatures, post-bop blues, and synthy ambient textures, showcasing a mutually boundary-pushing freedom and urgency in their playing.
