Ismael Quintana - Punto Y Aparte (1970)

Ismael Quintana's first solo effort may be overshadowed by his later, more auspicious Vaya albums; however, it is just as compelling as anything that he has done after his Eddie Palmieri days. "Mi Oportunidad" found its way into the local hit parades of 1970. Other tunes, like the title tune and "Divina Mujer," show the sentimental, melancholic side that helps the singer shine all on his own. "Kum Kum Kum," "Baile con los Pollos, Mi Socio," and "Camina, María, Que Me Fascinas" are examples of his approach to the son montuno craze earlier in the decade.~José A. Estévez, Jr.
