Cristina Branco - Mulheres de Abril (2025) [Hi-Res]

The album "Mulheres de Abril" ("Women of April") is a conceptual work by Portuguese singer Cristina Branco, dedicated entirely to the music of legendary composer and poet José Afonso (Zeca Afonso). Serving as an ideological continuation of her landmark album "Abril" (2007), this release focuses on the female characters and narratives within Afonso's songs. Cristina Branco aims to break the "symbolic silence" of these figures, engaging in a dialogue between eras and exploring issues of gender and social transformation. The recording features the singer's long-time musical partners, creating a chamber jazz accompaniment for the classic texts.
