Claudio Scolari Project - Bloom (2025)

The Claudio Scolari Project, previously a quartet, has released the new album Bloom, introducing a fifth member, Ilaria Cavalca, on piano and primarily wordless vocals. While the lineup previously included piano, the addition of Ilaria's vocals signifies a notable shift, offsetting the omnipresent trumpet in their signature sound, which blends jazz and early fusion elements. The nine compositions, written by Claudio Scolari and Daniele Cavalca, are characterized by intensity, spontaneity, and abundant improvisation. Ilaria's vocal contributions evolve from a minor role on "Velvet Currents" to improvised scatting on "Unfolded Silence" and expressive blending with the instruments on "Twilight Serenade" and the final track, "Whispers of Life," which incorporates sequenced electronic patterns. Overall, Bloom signals the group's continued creative evolution while maintaining its characteristic rhythmic and melodic density.
