The group's style is rooted in the funk, boogie, and R'n'B of the late 70s and early 80s. Michael Brauer, known for his work with global stars like Coldplay and The Rolling Stones, noted the similarity of Mondo Freaks' sound to the classic R'n'B records from the beginning of his career, such as works by Luther Vandross and Change, which served as key influences for the band.
