Jim Reeves - Girls I Have Known (2015)

Jim Reeves' album Girls I Have Known was his first recording for RCA deliberately aimed at the mainstream pop audience. For this concept album, Reeves and producer Chet Atkins selected songs from the pop canon of previous decades, including standards by Irving Berlin and Nat King Cole. The sound was intentionally shifted towards pop music: traditional "rustic" country accompaniment was suppressed or eliminated, and Reeves' vocal delivery became lush and seductive. The album, released five decades ago, holds historical significance as one of the very first Countrypolitan recordings, which helped propel country music into the mainstream by bridging it with the pop audience.
