Erika Dohi's second album, "Myth of Tomorrow," is a conceptual work inspired by Taro Okamoto's mural of the same name and personal experiences during the 2020 pandemic. The record marks a departure from the sound of her debut release, "I, Castorpollux," moving towards bold experimentation. Recorded at Brooklyn's Figure 8 studio under the guidance of producer William Brittelle, the album fuses classical piano with elements of electronics, hip-hop, jazz, and ambient music. The arrangements utilize traditional Japanese instruments and the rare Fairlight CMI synthesizer. The tracklist ranges from energetic, rave-like compositions to melancholic reflections, including collaborations with poet Carol Féliz and multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily. The final track, incorporating sounds of public support for first responders during the lockdown, underscores the release's key themes: overcoming isolation, resilience, and spiritual rebirth.
