Welsh producer Don Leisure has released the album "Tyrchu Sain," crafted from the extensive archives of Sain Records, Wales' oldest independent label. The project emerged from a major 2024 initiative to digitize 55 years of Welsh musical heritage in collaboration with the National Library of Wales. The artist reimagines rare mid-20th-century Welsh psychedelic folk and pop recordings, weaving them into contemporary, experimental compositions. The record blends acid folk elements, haunting vocal melodies, and crisp hip-hop percussion. Featuring contributions from prominent Welsh artists like Gruff Rhys and Carwyn Ellis, the album acts as a bridge between a forgotten past and the future of Welsh-language music, preserving cultural identity through the lens of modern beatmaking.
