Oiro Pena - Oiro Pena 2 (2020)

Finnish multi-instrumentalist Antti Vauhkonen, under the Oiro Pena project, has released an EP titled "2". The release combines elements of spiritual jazz and folk, characterized by a complex instrumental structure in which the artist independently performs parts on numerous instruments, including the saxophone, balalaika, and ektara. With the support of Joona Hulmi and Keijo Koskenharju, the record's sound approaches the stylistic approach of Sun Ra. Although the density of the arrangements raises questions regarding the feasibility of live performance without a large ensemble, the work stands as a high-quality example of a studio jazz project.
