Socalled - Ghettoblaster (2011)

Canadian musician Socalled has released Ghettoblaster, an ambitious project that synthesizes traditional Jewish, Balkan, and Latin music with contemporary hip-hop. The album is built upon complex collage-style beats and Dolgin’s own multi-instrumental performances on everything from accordion to synthesizers. This large-scale production features over 40 collaborators, including prominent figures from jazz, funk, rock, and klezmer scenes. The final result is an eclectic yet cohesive work that merges archaic folkloric traditions with a modern urban aesthetic.
