Crossing Borders Music - Zombie: Origin and Evolution (2016)

The album "Zombie: Origin and Evolution" is a unique musical exploration of Haitian culture and history through the lens of chamber music. The centerpiece is an eight-part suite composed by Jean "Rudy" Perrault. The music aims to demystify the "zombie" figure, separating pop-culture stereotypes from authentic Vodou beliefs and the historical roots of the Haitian people.

The first part of the album (tracks 1–8) guides the listener from the invocation of Papa Legba to the concluding rites, illustrating the process of enslavement and the liberation of the soul. The second part features works by other composers, such as John Wohl’s "Six Etudes on Haitian Folk Songs," which further highlight the richness of Haiti's musical heritage.
