The Guy Hamper Trio was established through the long-standing collaboration between Billy Childish and organist James Taylor, whose professional relationship dates back to the early 1980s. The current lineup features Childish, his wife Julie, drummer Wolf, and Taylor on the Hammond organ. The ensemble's artistic output is defined by a deliberately raw, "gritty" instrumental sound heavily influenced by the blues and a conscious rejection of conventional musical norms. Since their debut single in 2009, the group has produced an extensive discography, including multiple full-length albums and singles, centered around a signature style of primal, bass-heavy instrumental performances.
