Buddy Django is the new album by the trio formed by Dani Pérez (guitar), Horacio Fumero (double bass), and Guillem Arnedo (drums), featuring the special collaboration of singer and pianist Lucia Fumero.
Recorded at Underpool Studio, the album brings together originals by the three musicians that have evolved over the course of their concerts, showcasing a sincere, organic, and deeply personal sound.
Buddy Django reflects three restless musicians, open to exploring different musical spaces, inspired by diverse life experiences and by a way of understanding music as a space for encounter, growth, and connection.
The result is an honest, mature, and vibrant album, born from live performance and faithful to the musical identity of this TRIO.
About the songs, three compositions by Horacio Fumero, which were on the fabulous ‘Vuelos’ or on the album with his daughter ‘Los Fumeros’ Seed Music, 2023. These are ‘Torcacita’, ‘Carancho’ with a groundbreaking guitar that completely modifies the previous versions, and ‘Tordo’ birds from his country, which bring us beautiful images of freedom, with Pérez's guitar ideal for immersing us in this ornithological world. And the unhurried double bass.
Three tracks by Arnedo, ‘Lazy Lady’, which opens the album and takes us back to the days when swing ruled the dance floors, with Lucía Fumero's piano joining the trio. Cuban and North American music stroll together. ‘Buddy Django’, which gives the album its title, Pérez's guitar seems to recite; this musician does not usually weave so many notes, but here none are superfluous. And a ‘Havanera’, Arnedo's drums set the rhythm, the guitar sings again and Fumero rides the waves. A gem. You never tire of listening to it.
