The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra's roots stretch back to the Film Symphony Orchestra founded at the Barrandov Film Studios in 1947. Reconstituted under its current name in 1992 by producer James Fitzpatrick following the Velvet Revolution, the ensemble has become one of the world's most recorded orchestras, operating from its home at Smečky Music Studios in central Prague.
