Zeinab Shaath - The Urgent Call of Palestine (2024) [Hi-Res]

More than fifty years ago, 16-year-old Zeinab Shaath composed the first English-language folk protest songs dedicated to the Palestinian cause. Drawing inspiration from the Western anti-war movement, she set the works of prominent poets to music to garner international attention for her people's struggle. Her artistry significantly influenced Arab intellectuals and led to performances across three continents. Decades later, the Discostan and Majazz Project labels have reissued a remastered version of her record, "The Urgent Call of Palestine." This release restores Shaath’s legacy within the global history of anti-colonial music, highlighting the enduring relevance of her humanistic message in the current era.
