Havana-based composer Alejandro Falcón has released "Falcón in Blue," the inaugural album of the "Cuban Notes" project on Dot Time Records. The record offers a modern reimagining of classical Cuban genres such as danzón, son, and bolero, treating them as evolving musical systems rather than mere historical artifacts. The recording features a collaboration between prominent Cuban and international jazz musicians, including Ted Nash and Roni Ben-Hur. Blending personal dedications with a profound exploration of Cuban rhythms and blues aesthetics, the album solidifies Falcón's role as an innovator who successfully synthesizes academic expertise with vibrant jazz traditions.
