This album marks Doris Day's first venture into sacred and inspirational music — a long-cherished project for an artist whose personal faith aligns naturally with her exceptional vocal gifts. The programme spans three distinct repertoire layers: classic English-language hymns from the nineteenth century (Nearer My God to Thee, Abide With Me), established modern standards (Scarlet Ribbons, Rodgers and Hammerstein's You'll Never Walk Alone), and newly composed sacred material, including three pieces by Martin Bruns. Musical accompaniment is provided by organist Buddy Cole and arranger Jim Harbert.
