The material was recorded in 1974–1975. At the time, Esquivel was performing with his orchestra in Chicago. The popular local Mexican restaurant La Margarita contracted him to create a series of exclusive recordings for promotional use.
The album fully reflects Esquivel's iconic signature style, which has earned him the nickname "the king of space music for bachelor pads."
