Sonia Santos - Sonia Santos (1975)

A great set of samba soul from Sonia Santos -- a lesser-known Brazilian singer from the 70s, and one who's working here in that cool mix of modes the Som Livre label was using at the time! There's a hip mix of electric and acoustic elements in the backings -- rootsy percussion, fast guitar riffs, and a bit of keyboards -- wrapped together warmly to push Sonia's vocals nicely -- almost in the manner of some of Eliana Pittman's work of a few years earlier. Titles include "Recenseamento", "Nao Sei", "Ate Breve", "Hipocrisia", "Brasileirinho", "Madeira De Lei", and "Adeus America".
