Attic Abasement - Moonlight Passes On (2026)

Rochester-based indie rock project Attic Abasement, led by singer-songwriter Mike Rheinheimer, released its fourth studio album Moonlight Passes On via Father/Daughter Records, ending a decade-long hiatus since Dream News. Tracked alongside producer Ben Morey at Submarine Sound Studio, the record marks a shift away from live full-band arrangements toward layered multi-instrumental solitude, echoing the home-recorded approach of early releases like Dancing is Depressing and Swim Through the Dirt. Dynamically bridging cramped lo-fi textures with open-air indie folk, the songs feature lyricism evocative of David Berman and Silver Jews, guitar lines reminiscent of Pavement, and subtle nods to midwestern emo and alt-country.
