American musical project Fling II has released the conceptual album 3, completing a triptych in the group's discography. The record was created as a deliberate rejection of commercial optimization and mass market trends, focusing on an entirely inward-looking creative process and making music "for themselves."

The album's sound combines neokrautrock, krautrock, cosmic country, new age, and classic synthesis. Atmospheric structures draw inspiration from everyday fragments of reality—the vastness of parking lots, surreal online advertising, and static gas station displays. The musical material was born during two days of studio improvisation using an array of available hardware, followed by an extensive period of laboratory editing, mixing, and refining.
