Rattling Ark - Top Of A Mountain (2026) [Hi-Res]

Irish cellist and composer Kevin Murphy, known for his work with Slow Moving Clouds, Seti the First, and Blind Stitch, presents the debut full-length album Top of a Mountain with his new ensemble Rattling Ark. The record features dual-cello arrangements by Kevin Murphy and Lizzi Murtough, zither and percussion contributions from Thomas Haugh, along with nyckelharpa and violyra performed by Aki. Serving as an experimental reinterpretation of Irish Trad music, the album merges dark instrumental arrangements, cinematic score aesthetics, bass drones, and atmospheric folk. The material ranges from brooding elegies and traditional ballads featuring vocals by Lizzi Murtough to intricate traditional jigs and mournful compositions such as "Ann Lovett’s Lament" and "Omos Silverskin."
