Ashèblasta - Apulian Unpopular Music (2026) [Hi-Res]

The Salento-based musical trio Ashèblasta, joined by guest artists, transforms traditional and archival Mediterranean folklore into a futuristic soundscape. Band members Roberto Chiga (frame drum, electronics), Mario Esposito (bass), and Peppo Grassi (mandolins) blend archaic stornelli, tarantella, and field recordings with contemporary electronic genres. The project features vocalists Giancarlo Paglialunga and Emanuele Licci from the renowned ensemble Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, alongside singer Adele Benlahouar. Traditional Southern Italian chants, psych-infused mandolins, and hypnotic drone textures combine with house, dub, reggaeton, Gnawa, and afrobeat rhythms, creating a meditative and trance-inducing hybrid of folk and modern club music.
