The Absolute Sound is an audiophile magazine that occasionally gives awards for recordings they deem of special sonic merit. Back in the 80s it was known as the Super Disc list and drove the value of certain rare RCA Living Stereo and Mercury Living Presence recordings into the stratosphere.
I haven't read the magazine much in recent years, but if they recommend a recording it's for it's sound quality primarily. The musical quality of their recommendations was erratic.

Disc 1 is shite, lots of digital clicks and skipping. Disc 2 verifies with AccurateRip, while disc 3 isn't recognized, but sounds ok on first listen.

This performance requires us concentration even in dances.
Still best period Solo Violin is Enrico Onofri (just 3 works) for me.
My best modern is by Lara Lev (Apex, lowest price CDs), someone rip and post please :)
