This is one the best blues comps I've bought in a long time. Sometimes you get a comp that's historically interesting, but not much to listen to for all the scratches, pops, or poor performances. This is not one of those. For someone not wanting to spring for the $80 Vee Jay box set, this is a good taste of what the label was producing during its heyday. This set proved once and for all that they had already been putting out great records long before the Beatles came around, and that the Beatles were just another example of their good A&R judgement!
