Harald Köster Quartett - Non Solo (2021)

In the HKQ project, well-traveled, experienced thoroughbred musicians around the pianist came together to work together in order to refine his compositions - some with forty years of history - with their individual strengths in various musical styles. The atmospheric HKQ concerts in front of an audience at the end of the year reinforced the one-day recording of the CD Non Solo.

The HKQ celebrated a sensual, rhythmic sound experience in the studio, carried by partly lyrical and expressive pieces with stylistic borrowings from jazz, pop and world music; a musical journey through time. With his warm, soulful sound, trombonist Achim Hartmannn provides velvety melodies and groovy improvisations that suggest long experience in famous big bands and studios. The accordion virtuoso Miroslaw Tybora, also at home in classical music, spices up with idiosyncratic, playful music
Sounds and powerful solos the pieces. Bassist Jörn Brackelsberg confidently, with a consciously economical style of playing, provides a foundation and rounds it off in his well-known manner.

Pianist, composer and ensemble member Harald Köster enjoys the constructive, respectful support of his colleagues in making his compositions, which he has performed or recorded mostly solo over many years, sound. Each of the recorded songs has and tells its own story; has a synaesthetic quality. Harald Köster's compositions are authentic, never calculated for effect.
