Loris Leo Lari - La luce di algeri (2021)

The disc features seven original compositions by the Lombard musician and the reinterpretation of "A thousand kisses deep" by Leonard Cohen and Sharon Robinson, performed with Stefano Bruni (electric guitar), Francesco Orio (piano) and Davide Bussoleni (drums) with the participation in four pieces by Achille Succi (alto sax and bass clarinet).

The close-knit quartet led by Lari, active since 2019 and made up of fellow students at the Giuseppe Nicolini Conservatory in Piacenza, has performed in some festivals and won the MIDJ "EsplorAzioni" call in collaboration with I-Jazz. “The light of Algiers” is a luminous background of musical colors, which mix together as in an expressionist painting. It is the warm light of the early morning that penetrates from a window of an Algerian hotel, bringing with it the melodies of the muezzins and at the same time it is the cold light of a Baltic landscape, lulled by the wind. It is the vital energy of a music that is always alive and inclusive, which feeds itself with the journey.
