Italoconnection - Midnight Confessions Vol 2 (2024)

If you're a lover of 80s Euro, Italo and synth disco then this latest long-player from Federico Di Bonaventura and Paolo Gozzetti - a sequel of sorts to 2021's 'Vol 1', though they've released several other albums since then - will be right up your street: it's like a night out at an Italian or German discotheque circa 1983! Featuring a mix of vocals from the boys themselves and at least one female guest, 'Midnight Confessions Vol 2' is absolutely dripping in all the sparkly 80s synths and primitive drum machine sounds you'd expect, and good places to start would be 'Cold War Lovers' or the infectious 'Lover To Lover'. But special mention should also be made of 'Europa', which does for 80s synth-botherers (and, weirdly, early 20th Century art movements) what Daft Punk's 'Teachers' did for the house and techno founding fathers of Chicago, Detroit and NYC.
