The album "Doo Dah Nean" by the Japanese trio Nean is a rare specimen of late 90s underground psychedelia, blending "iroke kayōkyoku" traditions with avant-garde experimentation. The music is structured around the contrast between Naoko's infantile yet sinister vocals, erratic percussion, and abstract electronic textures. While band members were associated with projects such as Holy Angels and Ohkami No Jikan, Nean is distinguished by its peculiar outsider aesthetic and proto-ASMR sound.
