Berlin-based Oliver Koletzki returns with 12, his twelfth studio album and one of his most measured and complete statements in years. Released via his Stil vor Talent label, the record reminds us about an artist deeply invested in atmosphere, emotion and patient construction in his productions. Throughout the twelve tracks, Koletzki balances introspection with rhythm, taking into account electronic music's ability on and off the dancefloor. Recently released as a single, the opening track "Petrichor" shows off it's hypnotic groove that unfolds with subtle grace. "Schnapsidee" is much more than a minimal tech track. Its trek into sci-fi themes and the power of techno. The previously released collaborations with Frida Darko, especially "Trip With Me" and "Voice or Noise," add a fresh, expressive contrast, while cuts like "La Hora de Mosquitos" and "Calle Sur" broaden the album's palette with transcending techno. One of the album's most universal cuts "About the Fox & a Tiger", shows that Oliver has a taste for the dramatic and long-lasting too. As a whole, 12 sounds like one of the most complete techno albums in recent years.
