Florian Arbenz - Quiet Lights (2026) [Hi-Res]

Recording a collaborative album with jazz legends Bill Frisell and Greg Osby represented both a dream come true and a significant creative challenge for the author. To match the proficiency of these legendary performers and avoid replication, minimalist yet distinctive arrangements were designed to complement their unique styles. The album features a diverse stylistic range, spanning from traditional jazz and pop inflections to rumba-inspired rhythms. The incorporation of custom percussion instruments, combined with the guitar and saxophone expertise, allowed the trio to achieve an expansive sound that transcends a conventional three-piece lineup. Played live without overdubs, the entire session was completed in approximately four hours, relying mostly on first takes to preserve spontaneity and freshness.
