Janel Leppin - The Realist (2026) [Hi-Res]

American cellist and composer Janel Leppin has released The Realist Pink Vinyl Edition via the Out Of Your Head record label, displaying a distinct synthesis of chamber jazz, contemporary classical, and art-pop. At the core of her compositional approach is the integration of classical cello technique, guitar-based textures, and subtle electronics. The recording bridges structured arrangements and free improvisation, alternating intimate melodic moments with explosive sonic outbursts. Featuring guitarist Anthony Pirog alongside an evolving ensemble of collaborators, the album crafts dense, cinematic soundscapes. Vocal fragments and lyrics are deployed alongside instrumental lines as equal elements, establishing an idiosyncratic aesthetic at the intersection of avant-garde, indie classical, and experimental music.
